My name is Clover. I am passionate about helping you to feel beautiful in mastectomy swimwear!

"Breast cancer is my worst personal tragedy - yet inspired me to do more, see more, create more and live more.

It was after primary breast cancer which affected me as a young woman, I found my new “actually, I can!” attitude. My first goal after making my recovery? Learning to scuba-dive in the warm, vibrant waters of Bali, Indonesia.

While searching for swimwear to wear on my underwater adventure, I was quickly disheartened to discover that the swimwear available for women like me! It was frequently frumpy, inelegant and lacking in the premium, designer look I loved wearing before my diagnosis and multiple surgeries. I searched high and low for beautiful, unique mastectomy swimwear which represented me and my youthfulness, my spirit and my love of style.

Unable to find swimwear I loved and driven by my “I can!” spirit, I began designing post surgery swimwear,  because I believe that women like me should not deserve to sacrifice fashion for comfort after breast cancer.

And so, Olympians Rule was born - a growing range of vibrant, designer mastectomy swimwear styles.  Award-winning, it is the best post surgery swimwear available, created for breast cancer survivors by a breast cancer survivor. I design Clover Lewis Swimwear for women like you to look good and feel great after breast surgery."

"Your search for stylish, great fitting swimwear after breast cancer is over." Clover Lewis

Our mission

The mission of Clover Lewis Swimwear is  simple: to create beautiful and fashionable post surgery mastectomy swimwear. Designed specifically with youthful women who have had breast cancer surgery. Suitable for a beautifully diverse range of bodies, Olympians Rule strikes an elegant balance between fashion, comfort and confidence. We refuse to compromise on any one aspect. We work hard to design and create designer post surgery mastectomy swimwear which looks good outside and feels great on the inside.

Normalising the shopping experience for women who have experienced breast cancer is another one of our biggest priorities as a swimwear brand. Braving the shops with a new shape can be hard, particularly if your body confidence has taken a knock as a result of your breast surgery or reconstruction. When clothes no longer fit or flatter your new shape or reveal scars which make you feel self-conscious, it can be difficult to regrow your well-deserved confidence.

That’s why we firmly believe that beautiful, well-fitting garments should be available to every woman, whatever her story. We’re busy at work designing to help make that a reality for women everywhere.

Meet Clover

With a background in Fine Arts and costume making, designer Clover Lewis was in a unique position to lead a change for fashion forward mastectomy swimwear. After studying Fine Art at St Martin's College of Art & Design, Clover went on to study Lingerie Design & Manufacture as well as Swimwear at London College of Fashion to prepare for her new collection.

From working as a freelance costume assistant at the Royal Opera House to working as costume assistant to the famed Nicholas Immaculate on Madonna's Sticky & Sweet European Tour, Clover's strong roots in fashion and costumery have proven indispensable in her quest to design on trend, high-end post surgery swimwear.

Perhaps even more important to the collection are Clover’s own life experiences. Clover Lewis Swimwear was launched as Clover’s recovery project - an inspiring way to turn a difficult and life-changing experience into a new and positive life experience which would encourage many other women to accept and love their post surgery bodies too.

Through real life trauma and her own research, Clover has come to learn a great deal about the benefits of fashion as a tool to recovery for women who bear the scars, both physical and emotional, of this disease. Her collection is all about ensuring each beautifully crafted garment gives women the confidence they need to look gorgeous outside and feel great inside.

Clover Lewis & charities

Clover doesn’t just work to make life better for women who have experienced breast cancer through her swimwear. The designer is involved with several great projects, causes and charities too. As Patron for the charity Life After Breast Cancer Fund (LABC), Clover speaks out to raise money to finance world-leading research into breast reconstruction - inspired by her own experience of mastectomy and reconstructive surgeries to help generate ever-better outcomes for women who choose these procedures.

Clover is also heavily involved as an ambassador, patient advocate and campaigner for the UK's largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now. From working with individual patients to understand their needs and work to translate these to breast care clinicians, to helping to identify successes and areas for improvement within hospital breast care services, Clover draws on both personal experience of breast cancer and her work as a physiotherapist to help make lives and services better.

In her role as a Breast Cancer Now ambassador, Clover recently met with MPs at the House of Commons, to campaign to unlock breast cancer drugs by reducing cost restrictions implemented by pharmaceutical companies.

Breast Cancer Care is another charity which has received Clover’s support. As a younger woman with breast cancer, Clover worked an an ambassador, volunteer and 2014 Breast Cancer Care fashion show catwalk model (video above), helping to raise a remarkable £610,000 for the charity. Focussing on providing emotional support for women who have received a breast cancer diagnosis, Breast Cancer Care is still a cause close to Clover’s heart, and she still works to fundraise through video and TV appearances and other activities. As the only UK charity to focus on providing emotional and psychological help for women, with a dedicated team set up to support women under 45, Breast Cancer Care has proved a lifeline for many women - including Clover.
